Who You Are…Matters!

Sometimes reverts step into their new life as Muslims with the misconception that the have to throw away their old selves, this is not the case.

Rather, Islam to us, is like the stick that supports the vulnerable growing plant. It aids it to grow straight in order to blossom and live appropriately.

Good character isn’t built in one single moment, it’s built in your habits. The way you speak when you’re tired. The way you respond when you’re annoyed. The small choices you make, again and again, when no one is watching.

For many reverts, learning Islam can feel focused on actions, the halal, the haram BUT some of the most powerful parts of this religion are found in something deeper:

Your character (akhlaq) and your manners (adab).

The Prophet ﷺ was known for his character, his honesty, his gentleness, his mercy. These qualities weren’t occasional, they were consistent and sometimes in the most difficult of moments.

Since our beloved Prophet ﷺ is our best example, we should take his lead. We won’t perfect our reactions overnight but through small, repeated efforts, your habits begin to change:

○ Choosing patience over anger

○ Kindness over harshness

○ Humility over ego

This is what beautifies our belief and practise In’sha’Allah.

To help with this, I’ve created a series of videos on good character. Revert focused of course that are practical, relatable, rooted in Qur’an and authentic Sunnah and focused on real life character development In’shā’Allāh so give them a watch!
